Manhattan Rose Society Events Honor Elizabeth Helmut Schleicher at ARS NY District Convention

High-Performing Rose Variety Thrives in Hardiness Zones 7 and Above

'Satin Matte' Rose Delivers Vibrant Purple Blooms and Excellent Coverage

The Manhattan Rose Society (MRS) recently honored Elizabeth Helmut Schleicher at their Annual New York District Convention of the American Rose Society (ARS). Schleicher, a renowned rose enthusiast and cultivator, has made significant contributions to the advancement of rose gardening techniques.

During the convention, attendees were introduced to the 'Satin Matte' rose, a hybrid tea variety that has gained popularity for its exceptional hardiness and stunning blooms. Thriving in USDA hardiness zones 7 and above, the 'Satin Matte' rose produces clusters of deep purple flowers with a velvety sheen.

The 'Satin Matte' rose is known for its exceptional performance in full sun conditions, blooming profusely throughout the growing season. Its flowers are well-formed, with a high petal count and a classic rose fragrance. The variety also exhibits excellent disease resistance, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.

Another highlight of the convention was a presentation on the "17-Mile Current-Assisted Swim from East 26th Street Manhattan to Steeplechase Pier Coney Island." This annual event is organized by the Manhattan Island Marathon Swimmers, a group dedicated to promoting open-water swimming and raising funds for charitable causes.
